Common questions about new construction
The actual construction time for a detached house is typically 6 to 10 months. In addition, design and building permit applications normally take 3 to 6 months. Total time from start to move-in is therefore around 9 to 16 months.
Yes, we have experience with challenging plots — steep terrain, clay, bedrock, and plots with special zoning requirements. We conduct ground surveys and adapt the foundation to the conditions.
With a general contract, Ski Bygg is responsible for the entire project — design, coordination, and execution. With a split contract, you engage tradespeople separately. We recommend a general contract as it provides one responsible party, predictable costs, and easier follow-up.
The price for a new build varies significantly based on size, standard, and plot conditions. As a starting point, a standard detached house costs NOK 30,000–50,000 per sqm of usable floor area. We always prepare a detailed and binding quote after the design phase.
