Common questions about extensions & additions

Most extensions require a building permit. Smaller additions under 15 sqm may in some cases be exempt, but there are strict conditions related to distance from property lines, utilization rate, and zoning plans. We help you clarify what applies to your property.

Costs vary significantly based on size, complexity, and material choices. A simple extension typically runs NOK 25,000–40,000 per sqm, while an upper-floor addition may cost more due to reinforcement of existing structures. We always provide a detailed quote after inspection.

The construction work itself normally takes 6 to 12 weeks, but the permit process with the municipality can add 3 to 12 weeks. We recommend starting the planning well in advance, especially if you want completion by a specific date.
